Q: The messiest, most unsightly part of my room is all the wires from my electronics. Between my laptop, cell phone, tablet, speakers, humidifier, etc. my wires are always a mess! Any tips on hiding them and keeping my life tangle-free?
A: First things first: whether or not you have a desk, it’s important to create a dedicated space for your technology. In other words, create a divide between your electronics and your bed. We know the urge to keep your cell phone and laptop within reach every morning and every night, but creating that separation will do wonders for your stress levels, the kinds of dreams you have, and how well you sleep.
If there are a few items you need by your bed (i.e. bedside lamp, fan, or humidifier), a simple surge protector behind your bedside table or bed will suffice. We suggest taping the cords to the wall or floor with Washi tape in order to keep them untangled and out of sight.
One of our favorite websites for electronic organizational items is Quirky. Quirky has invented products such as the Pivot Power, a pliable surge protector that can fit into any odd space: around a desk leg or in a corner. Another great one is the Plug Hub, which separates each cord plugged into a surge protector. Even their smaller products, like the Power Curl or Cordies, are super useful and add a pop of color to an otherwise drab set up of wires.
